About the opportunity

The University Partnerships Manager will build structured relationships with universities and higher-education institutions that support learning access, research, internships, innovation, capacity building and community-focused programme delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and qualify universities whose priorities align with BHN’s mission and programme portfolio.
• Develop outreach, partnership concepts, meeting briefs and follow-up actions for priority institutions.
• Coordinate cooperation discussions covering scholarships, curriculum, mentorship, research, internships and joint projects.
• Support due diligence and preparation of memoranda of understanding, implementation frameworks and workplans.
• Maintain partner records, institutional contacts, commitments, milestones, risks and renewal dates.
• Coordinate internally with Academy, Programmes, MEL, Communications and relevant technical teams.
• Monitor partnership activity and ensure agreements progress into defined, measurable and public-benefit outputs.
• Represent BHN in approved university meetings and events without making unauthorized commitments.

Person specification

Essential

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in higher education, international relations, partnerships, programme management or a related field.
• Experience working with universities, research institutions or academic networks.
• Strong English communication, negotiation, presentation and relationship-management skills.
• Ability to translate broad cooperation interests into clear responsibilities, workplans and outcomes.
• Excellent organization, documentation and follow-up skills.
• Ability to work respectfully across academic, cultural and institutional contexts.

Desirable

• Existing university networks in Germany, Africa or the Global South.
• Experience with international offices, research cooperation, internships or scholarship programmes.
• Experience drafting academic cooperation agreements.
• Additional relevant language capabilities.
