BHN e.V. Germany and DataCamp Announce Strategic Partnership: Expanding Data Science and AI Skills Development Across Africa and the Global South
Barbing, Germany —
Bechem Humanitarian Network (BHN) e.V. Germany today announced a strategic partnership with DataCamp, a global leader in data science and artificial intelligence (AI) education. The collaboration aims to address the growing digital skills gap by expanding access to high-quality, market-relevant technical training for underserved learners across Africa and the global south developing countries — at no cost to participants.
Advancing Digital Inclusion Through Education
As data-driven technologies increasingly shape global economies, access to practical, industry-aligned digital skills has become essential for workforce participation and long-term economic resilience. However, many young people in developing regions continue to face systemic barriers to advanced technical education.
To help bridge this divide, BHN e.V. Germany is integrating DataCamp’s learning platform into her BHN Academy Germany Curriculum and awarding it to scholars through the BHN Digital Impact Fellowship (BDIF) Scholarship Program. Through this integration, learners gain access to structured, hands-on training in high-demand disciplines, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, Data Engineering, Python, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, and Machine Learning.
Expanding Access Through Sponsored Learning Licenses
The partnership enables BHN e.V. Germany to provision up to 1,500 DataCamp learning scholarship licenses for underserved learners across Africa and the global south developing countries. These licenses provide full access to DataCamp’s interactive courses, career tracks, projects, and industry-recognized certifications.
Through this initiative, BHN e.V. oversees a digital learning asset portfolio valued at USD 598,500 yearly, supporting access to globally recognized data and AI training tools and certification pathways for learners across Africa and the global south developing countries. The program is designed to ensure participants acquire not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical, job-ready competencies aligned with current labor-market needs.
Supporting Learners with Global Standards
We are proud to collaborate with DataCamp on this important initiative. This partnership allows us to provide African youth and other underserved learners with access to the same tools, training standards, and certifications used by leading organizations worldwide. Our goal is to ensure that learners are equipped with practical skills that translate into real employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
— CEO, BHN e.V. Germany
By leveraging DataCamp’s globally recognized curriculum and certification framework, BHN e.V. aims to strengthen the employability of program participants while increasing their competitiveness in both local and international job markets.
University Collaboration and BHN’s ‘2040 Vision’
The partnership also supports BHN’s long-term ‘2040 Vision’, which seeks to empower millions of young people across Africa and the global south developing countries with digital and employability skills over the coming decades. As part of this vision, BHN e.V. is working with partner universities across Africa and the global south developing countries to complement existing degree programs by embedding practical, industry-aligned digital skills training alongside traditional academic instruction.
This approach does not replace university degrees. Instead, it strengthens formal education by enabling students to graduate with academic qualifications complemented by industry-recognized technical certifications, helping them transition more effectively into the workforce.
Ensuring Accountability and Impact
To maximize impact and ensure effective use of learning licenses, the BHN Online Academy employs structured monitoring and learner-engagement frameworks. Participants are encouraged to maintain consistent learning schedules and demonstrate commitment to their training pathways, ensuring strong outcomes and measurable social return on investment.
