About the opportunity
The Director and Chief Technology Officer will lead BHN’s digital infrastructure, platforms, security, integrations and responsible technology governance. The role will establish reliable systems that support organizational operations, BHN Academy Germany and multi-country programme delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the department’s strategy, architecture, annual plan, priorities, risks, service standards and performance reporting.
- Oversee cloud services, identity and access, websites, LMS platforms, integrations, automation and technical support.
- Establish cybersecurity, data-protection, business-continuity, backup, recovery and privileged-access controls.
- Direct responsible AI and digital-governance standards covering approved use, privacy, security and accountability.
- Manage technical staff, volunteers, service providers and technology partners through clear ownership and review.
- Maintain system inventories, renewal responsibilities, documentation and utilization evidence.
- Translate programme and operational needs into secure, accessible and maintainable technical solutions.
- Lead incident response and escalate material security, privacy, availability or continuity risks.
- Advise the CEO and management team on digital investment, technical risk and platform sustainability.
Person specification
Essential
- Advanced degree or substantial equivalent leadership experience in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, cloud engineering or a related field.
- Significant experience leading digital infrastructure, cloud services, identity, platforms and technical teams.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity, data protection, continuity, access control and technology governance.
- Experience with integrations, automation, LMS or web-platform environments.
- Ability to convert organizational needs into practical architecture, controls and service priorities.
- Excellent English communication, documentation, judgment and remote-leadership skills.
Desirable
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Moodle, WordPress or comparable environments.
- Experience governing responsible AI and nonprofit technology ecosystems.
- Relevant cloud, cybersecurity, privacy or project-management certification.
- Experience supporting international, education or humanitarian organizations.
