About the opportunity
The Grant Development Manager will strengthen BHN’s institutional funding pipeline by identifying suitable opportunities and developing high-quality, evidence-based proposals. The role will help convert programme concepts, partnerships and digital capacity into funded public-benefit initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Research and screen funding opportunities from public institutions, foundations, companies and development agencies.
- Maintain accurate opportunity records, eligibility requirements, deadlines, status and next actions.
- Coordinate proposal calendars and obtain programme, budget, safeguarding, partnership and evidence inputs.
- Draft and edit concept notes, expressions of interest, proposals and supporting narratives.
- Support development of results frameworks, workplans, risk approaches and sustainability plans.
- Check submissions against funder requirements and ensure completeness, consistency and evidence quality.
- Develop reusable organizational profiles, capability statements and due-diligence materials.
- Track submission outcomes, feedback and lessons to strengthen future proposal quality.
Person specification
Essential
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience in international development, public policy, business, social sciences, communications or a related field.
- Experience in grant research, proposal writing, fundraising or programme development.
- Strong written English and persuasive, precise drafting skills.
- Ability to interpret eligibility rules, evaluation criteria and application instructions.
- Strong research, document-management and deadline-management skills.
- Ability to collaborate across programme, finance, partnership and MEL functions.
Desirable
- Experience with EU, German public, UN, foundation or corporate funding.
- Experience with logical frameworks, results frameworks, workplans or proposal budgets.
- Knowledge of one or more BHN programme areas.
- French, German or another relevant language.
