About the opportunity
The Programme MEL Manager will embed practical monitoring, evaluation and learning within BHN programmes and projects. The role will help programme teams define results, collect reliable evidence, monitor delivery and use learning to improve public-benefit outcomes across Africa and the Global South.
Key responsibilities
- Support project teams to develop results frameworks, indicators, baselines, targets and reporting schedules.
- Maintain indicator trackers and follow up with programme owners on timely and complete data submission.
- Support surveys, assessments, monitoring visits, feedback exercises and other approved data-collection activities.
- Check programme data for completeness, consistency and traceability and document any limitations.
- Prepare concise monitoring summaries, outcome updates and learning notes for programme and management review.
- Support community accountability and ensure beneficiary feedback is handled respectfully and safely.
- Work with programme and country teams to identify lessons, corrective actions and evidence needs.
- Apply BHN requirements for consent, confidentiality, safeguarding, privacy and responsible data use.
Person specification
Essential
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience in monitoring and evaluation, development studies, statistics, social sciences, public policy or a related field.
- Practical experience with indicators, surveys, data collection, programme monitoring or results-based reporting.
- Strong spreadsheet, documentation and analytical skills.
- Ability to explain data requirements clearly and work constructively with distributed programme teams.
- Good written and spoken English and careful attention to detail.
- Commitment to evidence quality, safeguarding, inclusion and responsible handling of information.
Desirable
- Experience with digital data-collection, dashboard or visualization tools.
- Experience in nonprofit, humanitarian or international-development programmes.
- Knowledge of one or more BHN programme areas.
- Additional relevant language capabilities.
