About the opportunity
The Manager will strengthen BHN’s social-media presence and build respectful engagement with scholars, volunteers, partners, supporters and wider communities. The role will publish accurate, accessible content and help turn public interest into meaningful participation in BHN’s mission.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, draft, schedule and publish approved content across BHN social-media channels.
- Maintain a practical content calendar aligned with programmes, partnerships, campaigns and organizational priorities.
- Engage with comments and messages professionally and route enquiries, concerns or safeguarding issues appropriately.
- Adapt verified programme information into clear posts, short stories, calls to action and community updates.
- Support online communities for scholars, volunteers, mentors and other approved audiences.
- Monitor channel performance and prepare concise reports on reach, engagement, referrals and community response.
- Coordinate with design, multimedia, programme and Academy colleagues to obtain approved assets and evidence.
- Follow BHN brand, consent, copyright, privacy, safeguarding and responsible AI requirements.
Person specification
Essential
- Relevant experience in social media, digital communications, community management or public engagement.
- Strong English writing and editing skills with an ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
- Practical knowledge of major social platforms, scheduling tools and basic performance analytics.
- Good judgment when responding publicly or handling sensitive messages.
- Ability to work consistently with a content calendar and approval process.
- Commitment to accurate, inclusive and respectful communications.
Desirable
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Express or comparable content tools.
- Experience supporting nonprofit, education or development-sector communications.
- Basic video-editing, photography or multilingual content skills.
- Knowledge of Africa and Global South audiences.

Selection process
